Greater Johnstown Young Artists Exhibit is on display through May 25 at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Blvd., Westmont.

School districts represented are Bishop McCort Catholic, Central Cambria, Conemaugh Valley, Forest Hills, Greater Johnstown, Northern Cambria, Portage, Richland and Westmont Hilltop.

Musical threesome

Trio Aoide will perform for the Chamber Music Series of Greater Johnstown at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 309 Lincoln St., downtown Johnstown.

Coming from three different continents, the musicians blend classical music from their varied  backgrounds and styles.

The trio is named after Aoide, the Greek muse of song and one of the three original muses.

Members are violinist Timothy Schwarz, a U.S. native; pianist Yu Xi Wang, a native of China; and cellist Ovidiu Marinescu, a native of Russia.

Tickets are $15 or two for $25 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and $5 for students.

Vocal harmony

The Four Freshmen will perform their brand of vocal harmony at 7:30 tonight at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center in Richland Township.

The legendary sound that began in 1948 celebrates its 65th anniversary this year.

The quartet is a Grammy-nominated male vocal band that blends harmonic jazz arrangements with big band vocal group sounds that were founded in the barbershop tradition.

No-tech farm

“Click, Clack, Moo” will be presented by Theatreworks USA Sunday through May 18 at Mountain Playhouse, 7690 Somerset Pike, Jennerstown.

Performance times for elementary school participation will be 3 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. and noon Monday through May 18.

The musical about negotiation and compromise is based on the Caldecott Honor book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin.

It tells the story of Jenny, who visits her grandfather, Farmer Brown, whose animals go on strike after he declares his farm is a tech-free zone.

Tickets are $8 per person.

Golf gathering

The second annual Lift Johnstown golf outing will be held Monday at Sunnehanna Country Club, 1000 Sunnehanna Drive, Westmont.

The day will begin with registration at 11:15 and lunch at 11:45.

A four-player scramble format with a shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m., and the day will finish with dinner, an awards reception and auction at 5:30.

The entry fee is $150.

Proceeds from the golf outing will benefit Lift Johnstown projects.

Music for mom

The annual Mother’s Day concert performed by Johnstown Symphony Orchestra will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Somerset Area High School, 645 S. Columbia Ave.

Patriotic selections will include “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Armed Forces Salute,” “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America.”

Broadway favorites will feature selections from “The Sound of Music” and “Les Miserables.”

Olga Redkina, principal cellist of JSO, will perform as soloist in Paganini’s “Variation on a  Rossini Theme.”

Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children and students and are available at any Somerset County branch of Somerset Trust Co. or at Laurel Arts, 214 S. Harrison Ave.

Mothers will be admitted free.

Worthy causes

The 33rd annual arts and crafts festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Johnstown Christian School, 125 Christian School Road, Hollsopple.

There will be auctions for children and adults, a Kids’ Korner, arts, crafts and food vendors.

Proceeds will benefit the school’s general budget.
