Need more quality time with your spouse? Try a free weekend retreat

— It’s two days designed to help married couples enhance their relationship.

The Children’s Aid Society, a nonprofit organization in Clearfield County that provides programs to improve the quality of life for children and their families, will hold a Healthy Relationship Project workshop Sept. 13 and 14 at the Comfort Inn & Suites, 455 Theater Drive in Richland Township.

“This is a mini getaway for couples where they’ll have a chance to focus on their relationship and spend quality time together,” said Amanda Clark, a case manager with the Children’s Aid Society.

The workshop will cover topics such as how couples can communicate more effectively, ways to reduce stress, working as a team to solve problems and how to better understand one another.

“We’ll also focus on getting that fun and friendship back,” Clark said. “Couples start with it and then it kind of fizzles, so we’ll talk about how to get that going again.”

The event is free and open to married couples of all ages.

All participants will receive their hotel stay, meals and gift cards from area businesses.

Clark said the agency likes to come to the Johnstown area at least once a year to offer couples-type workshops.

“Everyone can benefit from this, whether you’re newlyweds or married for many years,” she said. “Our goal is to strengthen relationships in communities.”

Registration is required by Sept. 9.
