Motor enthusiasts get ready to shift into high gear

Folk music

New Christy Minstrels will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, Richland Township.

The group, founded in 1961, is known for hits such as “Today” and “Green, Green.”

Tickets are $29, $25 and $21.

Cruisin’ along

The fifth annual Johnstown Super Cruise will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3429 Elton Road, Richland Township.

Participating car clubs include Johnstown Street Survivors, Laurel Highlands Mopar, Cover Hill and Portage Area Cruisers.

Admission is free.

Fine films

The 2013 edition of Johnstown Film Festival will be held at 7 tonight at Johnstown Flood Museum, 304 Washington St., downtown Johnstown, and at 8 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Discovery Center, 201 Sixth Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.

Admission is $5 at the door for tonight’s showings and $8 for association members and $10 for nonmembers for Saturday’s showings.

Keeping fit

Yoga and belly dancing classes are beginning at Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, 411 Third Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.

A yoga class taught by Judy Hunter will be held at 5:45 p.m. Mondays through Sept. 30 and Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Two yoga classes taught by Adriann White will be held at 5:45 and 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Sept. 25 and Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.

Yoga classes are $56 for the eight-week session or $10 per class.

A belly dancing class taught by White will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Sept. 25.

Classes are $25 for four weeks.

A new children’s yoga class for ages 3-8 will be taught by Kristen Panek next door at Art Works in Johnstown, 413 Third Ave., at the same time an adult class is held at 5:45 at Bottle Works.

The cost is $5 per class.

Bandshell blast

AmeriServ Free Summer Concerts at Roxbury Bandshell will close out the season Sunday at the bandshell at Roxbury Park along Franklin Street, Johns-town.

Hiram and the Walkers will play oldies at 3 p.m.

The Cash Review will perform a Johnny Cash tribute at 5.

Spiritual story

The music drama “It’s Not Too Late” will be presented at 7 tonight through Sunday at Oakland United Methodist Church, 1504 Bedford St., Johnstown.

The play follows the events of the Columbine shooting in 1999, with an emphasis on the spiritual perspective.

Tickets are no longer available for the dinner theater, which will be held at 6 each night, but those who wish may attend the performance only.

The donation is $5, and guests attending the performance only will be seated after those attending the dinner theater.

Proceeds will benefit the renovation of the Family Kitchen.

9/11 events

“Let’s Roll,” the annual memorial ride to Shanksville to honor the heroes of Flight 93, sponsored by Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education, will gather at 1 p.m. Sunday at Highland Harley Davidson, 802 N. Center Ave., Somerset.

Riders will leave at 2 and do not have to be members of ABATE to participate.

Donations will be given to Flight 93 Memorial.
