State police seek man who tried to rob Fayette County shop

FARMINGTON — State police have been trying to find a knife-wielding man who tried to rob a western Pennsylvania sandwich shop but ran away when a clerk told him there was no money to steal.

Troopers from Uniontown say the incident happened just before 8 p.m. Sunday at the Subway shop on National Pike in Wharton township. That’s near Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, about 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

Police say the suspect is a white male in his 20s or 30s about 5-foot-8. They say he has a reddish brown beard and was wearing a camouflage baseball cap, a green hooded Army jacket and brown coveralls.
