Police ID 91-year-old Altoona woman killed crossing street

ALTOONA — Police have released the name of a 91-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a pickup in Blair County, but say they’re still not sure whether the driver will face charges.

Altoona police say the victim is Cecelia “Sis” Hollern.

They say she was using a cane to cross a street when she was struck by the truck about 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police say there’s no indication the 44-year-old man driving the truck was using drugs or alcohol, but say his involvement in the crash remains under investigation.

Witnesses tell police the woman was walking with a cane across the busy street when the driver braked and tried to swerve from hitting the woman on the rain-dampened street.
