SNOW, FRIGID TEMPERATURES SET TO SWEEP ACROSS PENNSYLVANIA
Forecasters say the storm could dump up to 10 inches of snow in the Pocono Mountains and northwestern Pennsylvania, followed by a blast of dangerously frigid air that will send wind chills below zero. The National Weather Service predicts 3 to 7 inches in the Philadelphia area and 6 to 8 farther north. Western and central Pennsylvania could see anywhere from 2 to 7 inches.
STATE POLICE TO RELEASE MORE DETAILS IN FATAL GUN SHOP SHOOTING
Troopers say 43-year-old Jack Edmundson Jr. fatally shot 62-year-old Frank Petro inside Frank's Gun & Taxidermy Shop in Saltsburg on Tuesday afternoon. Police plan to release additional information at a news conference Thursday.
NEW FUEL TAXES KICKED IN WEDNESDAY, BUT EXPERTS EXPECT PRICES TO DROP SLIGHTLY IN 2014
The new taxes that began on New Year's Day in Pennsylvania are the first of three increases being imposed by a new law. Gasoline taxes are up 9.5 cents a gallon and diesel nearly 13 cents. But the U.S. Energy Information Administration is expecting a slight overall drop from $3.50 per gallon of gas to $3.43 this year.
THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL ... AND APPARENTLY NO SUING, EITHER
The Pennsylvania Superior Court says a spectator hit by a baseball at a youth tournament can't sue the groups that sponsored the event. The court found the woman accepted the risks inherent in baseball when she attended the Lehigh County tournament where her son was playing.
WE ARE ... LEAVING PENN STATE
Football coach Bill O'Brien is leaving the school less than two years after replacing Joe Paterno. He is returning to the NFL with the Houston Texans to coach the worst team in the league. Official announcements are expected by both teams Thursday.
