Police took two people into custody after a young girl was found wandering the 8th Ward on Tuesday evening.
Johnstown police Sgt. Patrick Goggin said residents near the 1000 block of Boyd Avenue reported seeing a little girl wandering the neighborhood unattended for hours.
Police responded just after 6 p.m. Tuesday and found the 3-year-old.
She was taken to the hospital for a check-up before being released to the county’s Children and Youth Services.
The girl, along with three other related children, were left by their grandmother with 57-year-old Linda Cooper. Police said when they met Cooper, they found her to be heavily intoxicated.
She was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment of a child.
The children’s grandmother also was on scene, Goggin said. She was arrested on a public drunkenness charge.
According to police, the parents said nothing was amiss when the children were dropped off with the grandmother. The children have since been returned to their parents.
