City man accused of stealing at hospital

— A Johnstown man who police said stole money and credit cards from Memorial Medical Center on May 6 will answer criminal charges in Cambria County Court.

Nathan Kuzma, 30, of the 500 block of Ferndale Avenue, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before District Judge Michael Musulin of Johnstown.

Police said video surveillance at the Lee Campus showed Kuzma entered an office just prior to a theft being reported.

A woman there said she hid her purse under her desk and later found she was missing $325 cash, seven gift cards and two credit cards, police said.

Hospital security detained Kuzma, who was sitting in the rear of a vehicle they found on Bedford Street.

Police said Kuzma was found in possession of the missing money and credit cards, and gift cards were found lying on the floor where he was sitting.

“Everything was recovered,” Assistant District Attorney Jessica Aurandt said.

Kuzma was charged with theft and receiving stolen property.

He remains free on bond.
