Crack cocaine dealer sentenced

— A Johnstown man who has been described by authorities as a major drug dealer has been sentenced to nine years and two months in federal prison for illegally distributing crack cocaine in the area.

Cirilito “CO” Cheatham, 28, formerly of the 800 block of Park Avenue, also was ordered by U.S. District Judge Kim Gibson to serve an additional five years of supervised release after he completes the prison term.

Cheatham pleaded guilty in July in Federal Court in Johnstown to charges of distributing and possessing with the intent to deliver crack cocaine.

He was accused of distributing the crack cocaine on Sept. 26 and 27, 2011. The Cambria County Drug Force had estimated that the cocaine had a street value of $20,000.

Authorities said that Cheatham fled from Johnstown, initially going to Florida and then to Georgia, before ending up in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he was picked up in March. He subsequently was returned to Cambria County and lodged in the county prison. The case was prosecuted federally instead of in the county court.
