Thieves make off with copper wire, bars in Barr Township

State police are investigating two separate thefts of copper wire and bars in Barr Township.

According to a release, unknown suspects cut through a chain-linked fence surrounding the Cambria County 911 tower behind Valenty's Bottled Water, 200 Buckwheat Hill Rd., Nicktown.

Approximately 33 feet of copper wiring, along with three solid copper bus bars were stolen.

State police said thieves also made off with approximately 50 feet of copper wire from the Penelec substation along Mosscreek Road. Police said the wire is unspooled, painted red and is cut into sections.
