Details released in suicide and attempted homicide

SCALP LEVEL — Jack Robert Prescott, 51, fatally shot himself shortly after wounding Deanna Hoffman when law enforcement authorities entered Hoffman’s Main Street home Thursday to serve misdemeanor warrants, police believe.

It was around 2 p.m. Thursday when Windber Borough police and agents from the state attorney general’s office arrived at the home of Deanna Hoffman in the 300 block of Main Steet, Windber police Chief Rick Skiles said.

Prescott had been seen entering the home, but no one responded when authorities knocked and identified themselves, Skiles said.

“(Hoffman) was able to flee the residence,” Skiles said. “She heard a second shot before she went outside. We believe Mr. Prescott may have taken his own life at that time.”
