BREAKING -- Windber hospital chief replaced

WINDBER — For the second time this month, a hospital CEO in Somerset County is being replaced.

Barbara Cliff, Windber Medical Center CEO, will step down Friday in a “mutual agreement,” the hospital announced today.

Thomas Kurtz has been named interim president and chief executive officer at the hospital. Kurtz will continue to serve as Windber Research Institute’s president and CEO.

“The board of directors is appreciative of (Barbara) Cliff’s commitment to excellence in patient care and service during the past five years,” board Chairman David C. Klementik said in a press release. “We wish her the best in all future endeavors.”

“This is a very special organization with outstanding doctors and staff. It has been an honor to be part of the WindberCare family, and I am proud of our many accomplishments,” Cliff said.

On Feb. 10, Ronald M. Park Jr. abruptly resigned as president and chief executive officer for Somerset Hospital after only 13 months in the top leadership position.
