Early morning police raid in Prospect area leads to arrest warrant

JOHNSTOWN — Johnstown police reported that several bricks of heroin, along with $4,000 in cash and a handgun, were discovered in the city's Prospect neighborhood around 4 a.m. this morning.

An arrest warrant has now been issued for Shakir Smith, 36, the man believed to be the owner or renter of the two homes raided along Ihmsen Avenue. Anyone with information on Smith's whereabouts is being urged to call 1 (800) 281-1680.

Johnstown police Capt. Andy Frear said a 16-year-old was also taken into custody following the search.

Elsewhere, Johnstown police said they found three bricks - or about 150 stamp bags - of heroin in the vehicle of Perry Allen King Jr., 38, as well as crack cocaine and $680 in cash.

Frear said King was to be arrested due to parole violations, but when officers identified his vehicle Thursday night on the Route 56 bypass, he was stopped and his car searched.

King has been taken into custody.
