Conemaugh police seek stabbing suspect

— Police in Conemaugh Township, Cambria County, are searching for the man they said stabbed his girlfriend in the face Monday night.

Police Capt. Tammi Collier said Frank Wilt, 22, was arguing with the woman when he picked up a knife and stabbed her in the cheek just below the left eye.

The woman was treated at the scene by Conemaugh Valley Regional Ambulance Association personnel. She was not taken to a hospital, Collier said.

The couple’s 3-month-old son was in the room at the time of the 9:40 p.m. attack in the home they share in the 1200 block of Clapboard Run Road, but was not harmed.

The woman ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911.

Wilt is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and reckless endangerment. He also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police recovered a marijuana pipe, Collier said.

Charges were filed before District Judge Rick Varner of Salix.

Anyone who knows Wilt’s whereabouts can call the Cambria County nonemergency number, 800-281-1680.
