In Brief | Land preservation applications due

— The Cambria County Agricultural Land Preservation Program is accepting applications for its Farmland Preservation Program.

The program enables the state, county and local governments to purchase developmental rights from local landowners. Fourteen farms totaling more than 1,900 acres are preserved in Cambria County.  

Applications are due Jan. 31.

Student raises funds for athletics

LIGONIER – Phebe Cornell, a junior at Ligonier Valley High School, has presented the school board with more than $3,500 that she raised for the school’s athletic fund.

The district will use the donation to benefit the track and field program. Cornell raised the money Oct. 20 during a 5K run and walk in Ligonier.
