Stabbing suspect sought

JOHNSTOWN — Conemaugh Township police in Cambria County are searching for the man they said stabbed his girlfriend in the face Monday night.

Police Capt. Tammi Collier said Frank Wilt, 22, of the 1200 block of Clapboard Run Road, was arguing with the woman when he allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed her in the cheek just below the left eye.

The woman was treated at the scene by Conemaugh Vally Regional Ambulance personnel. She was not taken to the hospital, Collier said.

The couple’s three-month-old son was in the the room at the time of the 9:40 p.m. attack, but was not harmed.

The woman ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911.

Wilt is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and reckless endangerment.

He also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police recovered a marijuana pipe, Collier said.

Charges were filed before District Judge Rick Varner of Salix. Anyone who knows Wilt’s where abouts is asked to contact the Cambria County non-emergency number at 1-800-281-1680.
